Never before have there been so many great opportunities for families with children to travel on public transport in Switzerland. The ecofriendly alternative to the car is affordable too, thanks to our wide range of unbeatable special offers designed to make your family budget go further. Please bear in mind that you will need to bring official proof of identity with you when you buy your travelcards and travelpasses from the station booking office.

Family coaches. The activities, fun and games provided on the family coaches operating on some of our InterCity double-deck trains will keep your children entertained while you travel.

GA travelcard for families.

When two or more family members in the same household already have a GA travelcard, they qualify for special prices on certain other travelcards from the GA travelcard range. At least one parent must have a basic GA travelcard. A basic GA travelcard can be a GA travelcard for adults, a GA for young adults, a GA for students aged 25–30, a GA for senior citizens or a GA for the disabled. Please note that you will need to provide a number of documents when purchasing your GA travelcard for families. If you wish, you can pay for your GA travelcard monthly.

Junior travelcard.

For just CHF 20 per year, children between 6 and 16 travel free on public transport when accompanied by a parent with a valid ticket.

Grandchild travelcard.

For CHF 60 per year, children between 6 and 16 travel free throughout Switzerland when accompanied by a grandparent with a valid ticket.

One-day travelpass for children. Children between 6 and 16 accompanied by an adult with a GA travelcard or a Half-Fare travelcard and a valid ticket can travel for a whole day in 2nd class for just CHF 15 – or in 1st class for just CHF 30.
