OnlineTicket.
The OnlineTicket brings the booking office to you! You can now buy your
tickets on line and print them out yourself. Here you can find out how it works and what you need to
know.
What
is an OnlineTicket?
In the SBB Ticket Shop, some tickets are only available in the form of OnlineTickets.
An OnlineTicket must be downloaded from the Internet as a PDF file and printed out
on regular A4 sized paper.
Important: Some OnlineTicket conditions (e.g. the validity or returned ticket conditions)
may differ from the conditions for tickets purchased at booking offices or from ticket machines.

Product range.
Not every type of ticket is suitable for home printing, so only ordinary tickets
for travel within Switzerland, City Tickets, Half-Fare Day Cards, Bicycle Day Cards and some special
offers are available as OnlineTickets at present. However, the range is being increased continuously.

Requirements.
To buy an OnlineTicket, you need:
- A computer with an Internet connection
- Adobe Reader
® for opening PDF files (version
5 upwards recommended)
- An ink jet or laser printer (minimum resolution 600 dpi)
- A valid credit card

Terms and conditions.
Unlike tickets purchased from a booking office or machine, no refunds can be given
for OnlineTickets.*
OnlineTickets are usually only valid for one day, so the date of travel must be
specified on purchase. Later exchange is not possible.
OnlineTickets are personal and non-transferable. An ID (passport or identity card)
must be presented at ticket inspections. For Half-Fare Card or General-Abonnement holders, the production
of their railcard is sufficient.
OnlineTickets cannot be purchased for dogs.
* Exception: death, substantiated illness of the customer,
no seats available in 1st class (endorsed by train staff). In such cases, a written request
must be addressed to the Contact Center SBB in Brig.

Printing.
Please use only a laser or ink jet printer with resolution of at least 600 dpi for
printing OnlineTickets. OnlineTickets printed or copied on a Fax machine or another device are not accepted
as valid.
OnlineTickets must be printed full-size (not scaled) on blank, unused A4 paper in
portrait format. Please do not change the print size. Smudged or incomplete printouts will be deemed
invalid.
Please use the Adobe Reader ® print function to print OnlineTickets.
We recommend downloading and printing a test ticket before making
your first online purchase. If you encounter any problems, do not buy an OnlineTicket and read "Technical
requirements" or the FAQs (frequently-asked questions).

Ticket inspection.
The A4 printout of the OnlineTicket must be shown to conductors and ticket inspectors.
The confirmation e-mail is not valid as a ticket. If you cannot present a valid OnlineTicket for inspection,
you will have to buy a ticket on the spot. A penalty will normally be payable in
this case.
OnlineTickets are only valid in conjunction with a valid official proof of identity
in the name of the passenger (passport or ID card). Half-Fare Card or General Abonnement holders need
only present their railcard.

Validity.
The validity period of OnlineTickets may differ from tickets purchased from booking
offices or ticket machines. In particular, ordinary return tickets for distances over 115 km are only
valid on one calendar day per single journey (return journey no later than 10 days after outward travel).
The dates of travel must be specified when the ticket is purchased.

Problems.
If you cannot print out your ticket for technical reasons (printer cartridge empty,
Adobe Reader not installed, etc.) use the "My orders" function to display and print out your
OnlineTicket again. You only need to log in.
A comprehensive list of FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) is
available for any other problems.

Returned tickets.
OnlineTickets cannot be refunded or exchanged. Exceptions: death, substantiated
illness of the customer or no seats in 1st class (endorsed by train staff). In such cases, a written
application must be sent to the SBB Contact Center in Brig.
