The Half-Fare travelcard is valid on all SBB routes, and those of most private rail operators throughout Switzerland – as well as on a large number of Swiss mountain railways. The Half-Fare travelcard is also valid on postbuses, and on many of lake and river boats. In most cities and urban areas the Half-Fare travelcard entitles you to reduced fares on short-distance public transport services like trams and buses.
And what's more, the Half-Fare travelcard entitles you to discounts on RailAway leisure trips.
Over short distances (because of minimum fare), on reduced tickets or for some combined offers with add-ons, the discount with a Half-Fare travelcard may be less than 50%.

The Half-Fare travelcard for 16-year-olds.
The Half-Fare travelcard for 16-year-olds is a special form of the card at a reduced price for young persons who have reached the age of 16 and would like to buy their first Half-Fare travelcard. Example: If you were born in 1994, you reach the age of 16 in 2010 – and if you buy the Half-Fare travelcard for 16-year-olds this year, it costs you only CHF 94.
