Good for the environment.
The railway is an extremely environment-friendly means of transport. Trains are very energy-efficient. The high proportion of power that SBB obtains from hydroelectric sources makes our services particularly environmentally friendly.
SBB wishes to maintain and build on this environmental benefit. So SBB is continuing to work on its ecological efficiency and continuously improving its performance in the central areas such as noise abatement, energy efficiency and air pollution - and also in other important environment-related respects.
