Mission.

SBB Infrastructure helps our partners in the Passenger and Cargo Divisions achieve success by professionally operating, maintaining and developing the railway infrastructure, with safety as the foundation of our success.


Primary mission:

  • To help our partners in Passenger and Cargo achieve success through professional train path management and efficient control of operations
  • With this mission in mind, to plan, build, operate and maintain SBB Infrastructure's fixed railway installations (track and lineside structures, bridges, tunnels, signal boxes, stations and marshalling yards, power installations, telecommunications facilities, etc.)
  • To develop the rail network and the power supply grid in close collaboration with the railway companies and the public sector.
  • To contribute to the success of the SBB Group.


Supplementary missions:

  • To provide crisis and incident management for the SBB Group
  • To assume the following Group functions:
    - Strategic purchasing
    - Quality management (incl. punctuality)
    - Interaction (wheel/rail)
  • To assume overall responsibility for ETCS, GSM-R, the basic customer information platform (in stations and including provision of updates), railway traction current, timetable and development of services

The reports from the individual divisions contained in the Group's annual report provide detailed information on the extent to which the strategic objectives were achieved in the 2008 financial year.
